Paris - Brantford bike/hike, Sept. 23, 2017
On Saturday, Sept. 23, 2017 a group of nine Stratford Field Naturalists took part in the annual bike/hike event. This year we explored the SC Johnson Trail from Paris to Brantford. Both groups started in Paris and made their way towards Brantford on the old rail trail.
Bernie and I led the bikers and Terry led the hikers. We had 5 people who biked to Brantford and 4 people who hiked and looked for signs of bird activity. In less than two hours we had biked the beautiful trail along the Grand River and then we stopped to have lunch in Brantford, where the hikers met us as well.
After we had rested and refreshed ourselves we crossed the Grand River on the old railway bridge and made our way back to Paris on the western side of the Grand. In total the trip was 33.5 kms.
